Empowering Ourselves and Each Other: Skill-share to develop young people's empowerment in local and international civic process
Chisinau Region, Republic of Moldova
May 11 – 16, 2010
Contact: moldova2010 AT eyfa DOT org
About a year ago the idea for a meeting in the Republic of Moldova developed and in the past months planning has started. Following a preparatory meeting a couple of weeks ago (attended by people from Moldova, Romania, Russia and the Netherlands) we would like to spread some information about the forum, and extend a formal call-out for potential participants.
The main focus of the skill-share is on empowering local, regional and cross-European youth to build and organize their own cultural and social-change initiatives by offering introductory and in depth workshops workshops, presentations, screenings and exchanges on the issues that affect them.
The meeting will take place in the Chisinau Region between the 11th(day of arrival) and the 16th (day of departure) of May. Why in Moldova? Due to the political and economic climate, Moldovan youth have not had the chance to participate in exchanges and have received little encouragement or tools when attempting to build something on their own. While some grassroots initiatives have appeared they rarely received the support necessary to sustain themselves.
Moldavian and international participants from the CIS, Eastern and Western European countries are invited to participate and exchange skills and information, with special attention to countries Moldova shares a past and specific context with such as Ukraine, Romania, Belarus and Russia.
We are currently preparing workshops and presentations on topics such as how to set up and run a campaign for social change, feminism and gender issues, community organizing, facilitation and consensus tools, climate justice and several others.
If you are interested in participating please get in touch with us at moldova2010 AT eyfa DOT org and feel free to ask us any other questions you may have.
