Our voices will be heard: promoting youth response and dialogue on racism, nationalism, and discrimination on a local and European level
Warsaw, Poland
November 9 - 14, 2010
This project (a meeting and public action) was initiated with a focus on promoting a dialogue and response amongst European youth on issues of racism, nationalism and discrimination (homophobia, sexism, economic, religious, etc.). The concept and need for such a meeting were raised out of various discussions we had across the EYFA network and Warsaw was picked as the location due to the enthusiasm of the hosting group as well as its geographical position.
This meeting aims to:
- provide a space for open discussion on confronting discrimination on a daily level directly and indirectly
- empower and support young people in starting and continuing initiatives which combat intolerance
- provide inspiring and accessible examples of public projects that confront racism, nationalism and other forms of discrimination
- share experiences and compare challenges of young people engaged in inter-cultural dialogue and working on developing cross-European cooperation networks dealing with racism, discrimination and intolerance
Format:
EYFA in collaboration with local groups provides a program that is also open for spontaneous input of participants throughout the week and for daily feedback of participants and organizers. As in all previous EYFA meetings and exchanges we will continue to utilise consensus based decision making.
Language:
The main working language of the meeting will be English, but workshops can also be run in other languages if organizers are told in advance in order to secure translation. If you are interested in attending please let us know your English level and if you would need any translation.
Food:
All food organized for the meeting will be vegan.
