MIGRATION

From the beginning of the world up to nowadays one of the main characteristics of human kind is moving and in constant search for better life conditions. That, on first look crazy race is in fact longing for promised, unknown and new destinations, and all aiming to improve qualities of life to itself and to future generations in the same time.

Once not noticeable but now even worrying percent of the migration in the world became problem No.1 and in Montenegro, but especially underlining Plav as a city with the highest rate of the migration in Montenegro.

Data which NGO “Plagus M” has for Municipality of Plav is very worrying if as a last outcome is the fact that every year from this Municipality near 50 – 70 young people age between 18 – 30 leave (legally or illegally). And if add to this that this town has around 9000- 10 000 inhabitants, than the picture is more clear. This problem started 30 years ago, when the inhabitants of Plav searching for better conditions of life and tired from hard economic conditions, started to emigrate firstly to USA and later to countries of EU. Data that in this moment in USA lives approximately 38 000 people from Plav and around 10 000 – 15 000 in countries of EU is really amazing and it is telling more than enough about the problem with which our organization is trying to deal with every day.

As the basic problem we can mention several factors as bad economical base, difficult conditions of life, high percent of unemployment, territorial isolation etc. Also a big influence has low level of information, stereotype of education in schools and limited possibilities of participation in different activities (such as sport, theater, social activities)

Our NGO recognized the problems and under our possibilities we started few activities in the town by establishing Amateur Drama Theatre , organized few workshops on education where youth was introduced to the problems, started few volunteer actions aiming to improve way of living of social cases ( in Plav we have 600 social cases registered) and it is working intensively on engagement of young people in all cultural and other happenings in the city and wider.

As we are aware of the danger that our town is dying , we will give our best to continue with our aims and give our part in solving this problem.
