Dear Friends, The document, recommending a major move to GM technology, The Motion for a European Parliament Resolution on Biotechnology: Prospects and Challenges for Agriculture in Europe (2006/2059(INI)) proposed by Mr Virrankoski (MEP from Finland), WILL BE VOTED ON DURING THE MORNING OF JANUARY 24TH 2007, by the Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament. IMPORTANT! There are five new committe members, from Romania & Bulgaria. There are also 10 MEPs who do not have e-mail addresses - only telephone & fax. IT IS VITAL that as many of us as possible UNIFY in a call for the COMPLETE REJECTION of this unashamedly biased pro GMO submission before the 24th. So far not many answers have been received from MEPs, the majority prefer to delete rather than read our letters - However, they are aware of the pressure we are exerting through the hundreds of letters arriving in their mailboxs'. This has resulted in the committee proposing some 200 amendements to the original text. Very few of these carry any real weight - so we MUST keep up the pressure! YOU CAN DO THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS: 1. Send a fax or call to your Country's Agricultural Committee MEPs, demanding rejection of the motion.
