TRAIN: Best information on trains in Europe (timetable, prices, etc.)
Name: Rail-Plus
- What: In most countries in Europe, if you have a discount card for the railways in your country, you can buy a Rail-Plus card for 15 euro. This gives you 25% discount on normal prices for almost any international trip you take. If you can combine it with an APEX 40% discount, it really helps to bring the price down.
- Conditions: It's only valid with a discount card.
- Price: 15 euro, valid for up to one year
Name: Balkans flexipass
- Where: Serbia, Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia.
- Conditions: The Balkan Flexipass allows unlimited rail travel for 5, 10, 15 days of rail travel in a 1 month period in the mentioned countries. You can buy pass at trainstations in the countries mentioned, or, much more expensive, on the web.
- Price: 51 euro, for one months, 5 traveling days

- When? Always
What? 43 euro's for ten rides from any station to any other station within Belgium, within one year. Only <26 can use the Go Pass (Dutch/French), but there is also a senior variant.

Name: Spar Preis & Super Spar Preis
- When? Always when there is a return trip booked (25%) with at least on Saturday night inbetween (50%)
- What? Saves 25% or 50 % of the regular price, to be booked in advance (3 days, limited capacity), valid on booked (highspeed) trains only

What? Weekly different long distance return trips between big cities in Germany. Return 39 or 59 Euro. To be looked up and booked at Surf & Rail Credit card needed. New connections every Saturday.
- What? 19, 29 or 39 Euro for trips from Germany to destinations in Europe (e.g. Rome, Bruxelles, Prague, Kopenhagen etc.), one way possible but only starting from Germany. Book 3 days in advance, online only, credit card needed!
Name: Spar Night - City Night Line
- What? 29€ tickets for night trains to destinations in Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Poland etc. to be booked in advance (3 days, limited capacity). Those tickets cost 19€ instead of 29€ rightnow.
- What: With this ticket, in the weekend, up to 5 persons can take all regional trains thorugh the whole of Germnay for 30 or 32 euro's.
BUS/COACH:
A German coach operator has copied the Ryanair principle and offers trips throughout Germany from 9E$. This includes a "free" advertisement show on board. Even the most expensive ticket will be cheaper then the cheapest railway ticket. It is also possible to set-up a shared drive to any location wanted and offer the tickets. The offer has some interesting elements because some of the offered tickets are leftovers from other group booking. |
The Netherlands
TRAIN:
Name: Voordeelurenkaart: If you go with Dutch trains, and you don't want to spent too much money, travel in with somebody with a ''Voordeel-urenkaart'' (The Off-peak Discount Pass) or Studentcard. Then you will get a 40% discount. But you need to find somebody with the discount card before the conductor finds you. This deal only works in the weekend, after 9:00, on national holidays and in the summer months July and August.
