Actions

ActionAgenda: hopefully self- updating calender of actions, meetings, events, workshops, campaigns etc. on the interactive WIKI page of EyFa.

AnnualMeeting: The annual meeting could take a day during the WinterMeeting or longer, depending on the topics and/or discussions. Ideally the attending people will decide on the eyfa strategy and structure and come up with new proposals to be worked out. The Board members of eyfa need to be part of that process.

[: Banking For new EYFA staff :Banking For new EYFA staff ]: If you just came to work with EYFA and you need to open a Dutch bank account here's the procedure. Postbank is the easiest one to get an account with. To open an account with them you need an EU passport, a SOFI number (to get this you need to make an appointment with local Amsterdam social security office Kingsfordweg 1, 020 687 7777, near Sloterdijk station, you need to take your EU passport & have the address of the last place you lived in your home country & thats all) and for bank account they also want proof of address. If you don't have a bill with your living address they ask you to provide official proof of registration of house address by getting a letter from City Hall population office. To avoid this, you can simply provide a letter from EYFA explaining they are your employer and can use that work address or some sort of work contract is ok too. That worked for me. Good luck...Natalie.

Benn, Meinhard: Computer hero, first involved in Ecotopia 2003 in Ukraine he helped out a lot with all kinds of stuff preparing for the WinterMeeting2004, staying at the ROJC in Pula. MeinhardBenn is one of the initiators of the EyFa Wiki page and provides the host for it.

Board: Until 2003, EYFA had a team of Board members registered in the Dutch Chamber of Comerce. These Board was mainly 'sleeping', which means that its members were just legal representatives on the official papers but without any real function. The new Eyfa board process started around September 2003, when the 3 members of the Eyfa Board notified to the Eyfa office their wish to resign from their positions. This fact, plus the centralisation of the decision-making power in the Eyfa office as the result of the dissolution of the network as a deciding instance in 2000, prompted the idea to renovate the Board and make it become "active". Find more on the background of this process and what are the characteristics and requirements of the Board in this page.

[: TheRoleOfTheBoard :TheRoleOfTheBoard ]: This paper wants to give some explanations about the role of the board in EYFA

[: BikeTour :BikeTour ]: Biketour is THE way to get to Ecotopia!!!

Charta: As an outcome from the WinterMeeting2004 we decided to develop a charta for eyfa. There is a working group dealing with it and the WIKI should be used as a main medium together with a mailing list to agree on the final Charta before the end of Ecotopia 2004.

Discussion Forum: You can join and put questions to us, criticize us, comment us, open a new topic etc. Try it!

Doctor:If you're new to EYFA office and a foreigner, then you might want to get a doctor in Amsterdam. If you're insured through SCI then they want you to arrange the cheapest medical care possible (ie. if it's not an emergency you shouldn't go to the emergency room in the hospital). So it's good to register with a Huisartsen (House Doctor). They will usually ask for the postal code of your home, as doctors are assigned according to where you live (they are supposed to be 10minutes away from your home in case they have to make a house call). You basically have to call different doctors offices in your area and see if they have space to take you on as a patient. Here are some links to help you try and find one:

E-communication: E-communication means to communicate with help of electronic based tools such as e- mail, WIKI, message boards, chat etc. As there are certain rules to make communication in general more easy and productive the same is valid for E-communication.

Setting up this WIKI and developing a Charta as well as improving Eyfa as an OpenOrganisation are part of this.

E-Facilitation: Very useful tool to make communication more efficient and equal and fun. Very different methods for different situations depending on the size of a group, the goal, the opinions and ways of decision making. Often goes along with consensual decision making (CDM). There are some facilitation toolboxes around on the net that give advice on different methods.

EuropeanYouthFoundation (EYF): The sector of the Council of Europe is one of the institutions Eyfa applies to with its projects. The latest projects we applied for were an EcoRates Toolbox, a Communication Training, the Wintermeeting 2005 and an Social Research project in Spain. None of them has been approved even though we stayed close to the given priorities. A new funding application combining both projects is in process, see EcoratesResearch.

GreenPepper: The "old" Green Pepper with its last issue in spring 2003 ("Water") was strongly focused on environmental issues and with some exceptions like the issue on "redefining terrorism" also on social injustice or the environmental aspects of social injustice or the social aspects of environmental problems.

GreenPepper magazine: started with the take on of new editors in beginning of 2004 after there was a long publishing break. The information issue that came out in December 2003 was already finished under strong influence of the future editors. The magazine gets a new webpage, layout, concept and moves towards an ecology based approach to environmental issues. The state of the independecy from eyfa is not quite clarified.
