How to get to ECOTOPIA in Zajezova [or Zajezka]
REMEMBER TO KEEP ALL OF YOUR TRAVEL TICKETS AND BRING THEM TO ECOTOPIA!
Getting there by BUS from Zvolen
Buses going to Zajezova leave from the bus station in Zvolen (opposite of the train station) from platform No. 15.
direct
There are two direct buses from Zvolen to Zajezova, at 6.10 am (working days and Saturday) and at 15.40 pm (working days). The journey is about 1 hour.
where to get off
In Zajezova get off at the stop „Razcestie“ (crossroad, newly painted wooden stop) or tell the driver to show it to you. We will inform the drivers about Ecotopia before. Than you will be very near the campsite, so just follow the signs or the sounds.
Sunday
On Sunday there are two good option how to get there with the bus: take bus at 14.30 from Zvolen, get off in Pliesovce bus station (journey lasts half an hour) and take bus at 15.30 from Pliesovce to Zajezova. You can also take the bus from Zvolen to Zajezova-Podlysec at 11.00, it ends in another side of the hill. You have to walk from the end station about half an hour down the hill, the way you can find on the map (click minus for better overview): mapy.atlas.sk/mapa/podlysec
one change
While choosing other connections you will always have to change in Pliesovce. All the buses from platform 15 in Zvolen go through Pliesovce, there are many of them. Good connection is at 11.00 from Zvolen (only working days, on Sunday it goes to another side of the hill, but you can take it as well, look above), change in Pliesovce, from where is immediate connection to Zajezova. You will get off at the bus stop there. From Pliesovce to Zajezova buses go at the following times: 6:45 (working days), 7:30 (weekends and holidays), 11:35 (working days), 12:15 (only Sunday), 15:30 (Sunday and holidays), 16:10 (working days), 19:00 (only Friday).
too late or weekend
If you will come too late to Pliesovce and there would not be any connection to Zajezova anymore, you can walk or try hitchiking. Hitchhiking from Zvolen to Pliesovce could work, but is very unprobable to Zajezova, because just few people live there. But you can always try your luck. So if you have to walk, get off at the bus station Pliesovce-Mala Zabava (last bus from Zvolen goes there everyday at 18.25) take the road from Pliesovce, on the crossroad turn left and than left again. The journey is slightly uphill and takes around 2 hours, so be prepared (you will walk on paved road). The map you can find on this link: mapy.atlas.sk/mapa/zajezova
Another option with 2 hours walking over the hill is the way through Sekier – one of the houses of Zajezka community. In Zvolen board the bus No. 11 towards Kralova. This bus starts in front of the railway station (right side) and goes through the town centre. Last one leaves at 18:10. Go all the way to the last stop. From there you turn left, the first 20m on the road, which leads to a house and than take the path, which leads up through the meadow all the way to the ridge. Do not turn right in the middle of the hill, as the path leads to a gypsy village. Go all the way to the ridge and walk for about 30 min through the meadows and woods until you reach a place on the meadow, where the path goes right from the ridge - down into the woods. Continue straight ahead. You will find the correct turn, which leads down the meadow past a nearby tall wooden pole. About 500 metres under the ridge you will find the farmhouse Sekier, the centre of our organization. If you want to continue to Ecotopia camp site, ask there for the directions, you will need to go to the valley.

How to get here by car
The description leads from city Zvolen: You can reach Zajezova from the west through Pliesovce, or from the east through Víglas. The journey through Pliesovce lasts approximately the same time as the one through Víglas. From Zvolen, drive in the direction of Kosice and turn right after the village Víglas in the direction of Slatinske Lazy and Kalinka. After going through those villages you will reach a saddleback. That’s how you will know that you are in Zajezova. You will see the sign of Ecotopia near the road.
If you decided to take the road via Pliesovce, pay attention on the crossroads after this small town. The signposts are confusing, you always have to go left (in the direction of Zajezova, Slatinske Lazy). There is a Welcome sign at the beginning of Zajezova.
