CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS FOR Youth Anti-fracking Camp, 13-19th July 2015, in the Basque Country

eyfa new logo_miniWe are looking for participants to share and learn together activist skills, knowledge and ideas in a youth anti-fracking camp in the Basque Country.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS 1.JUNE 2015.

The environmental activist communities of both the Basque Country and different corners of Spain have been struggling against the Spanish government and corporate interests threatening to conduct fracking for shale gas. We are inviting for youth activists for other grassroots environmental movements (with anti-fracking and/or other focuses) to join us in an important collaborative meeting on how we can learn from each other’s strategies, tactics, and group dynamics.

As per all EYFA network events, we aim to consider the larger specter of environmental and social injustices we struggle against together, and, thus, to encourage and facilitate the building of regional and international networks of several action/working groups and the active exchange of knowledge and skills for resistance.

Regarding conditions:

  • Accommodation will be preferably in the form of a camping place. Exact details will be communicated at a later date via email. During the camp we’ll all be able to sign up for shifts cooking vegan food for everyone and managing the camp together. As a horizontal camp, everyone’s contribution is important.
  • We might ask for donations for food and to cover other costs but only if people have the possibility to donate. Also, we have funds for traveling expenses for getting to the camp. We don’t want to limit anyone’s participation based on lack of financial resources. Come join us!

To sign up if you are interested in participating or if you have any questions, please let us know by writing a 300-500 word response to the following question: what does it mean or how does it look like to challenge false energy solutions? Write us at: youthgegenfracking(((at)))gmx.de

*** Among already confirmed workshops and discussion topics: peak oil and climate justice, facilitation+consensus and holding meetings, community organising, local impacts of energy policies….
